I don't handle many of these as I only buy them when they are in strikingly bright condition with plenty of finish. This one fits the bill. The gold-washed scabbard displays prox. 95% original gold gilt that still retains most of its polish. The engraving is of fine scrolls and highlighted by a wonderfull American Eagle of almost 3" in height between the ring-mounts. One or two very small dents. The blade is near excellent and retains most of its fire blue and gold-washed luster with military motifs etched into its surface. The carved ivory grip has a small chip missing from the heal, but it is hardly noticeable. I must confess, I didn't see it till I got it back to my office. This is a great sword. Colorfull, decorative and patriotic, these are the best of wallhangers as they are nothing short of beautifull.
