At the top of the sword collectors list are the carved ivory grippd swords and this example of a high grade Clauberg cavalry officer’s saber is among the finest known. It is in exceptional condition with the very rarely seen and highly desirable “US Cavalry” etched blade. Everyting is presentation quality, hilt, blade and a beautiful engraved German silver scabbard with high relief gilt mounts and boot style drag. Words can not do this saber justice, while just a look at the photographs of this beautiful saber are only a small taste of how wonderful the real thing is. This saber is depicted on the cover of Civil Wasr Cavalry and Artillery Sabers and is also prominately shown and described on pages 154 and 155. It can not be improved upon and will be a center piece of any serious collection. Dick Johnson has prized this saber as part of his collection for many years. Excellent overall condition.
