This is an original Starr Percussion Carbine marked as issued to Company K, 1st Arkansas Cavalry. The gun is a brown patina over-all with a thin layer of crust on it and the wood is light colored but very good and full, front to back. The hammer is locked in the cocked position. This gun is dry and better than it looks. With some TLC, it should be cleaned and oiled to make a very presentable unit identified Civil War Carbine for a smart collector who has some skills at cleaning and fixing up a very nice historical artifact.
