7 BARREL FLINTLOCK PISTOL BY G. TURNER OF DUBLIN - Lot #4904

This is an extremely rare Engraved Irish Seven-Barrel Flintlock Pistol by G. Turner of Dublin. It is in 36 caliber with 7 - 3.5” barrels and is nine and one half inches over-all. The gun is of iron construction with a brass shroud magazine. The barrel assembly is "hand-turn" with release push-lever on the left side of the frame. The iron frame is tastefully engraved with military stands-of-arms as is the trigger-guard and the barrels show Damascus patterns. This multi-barrel flintlock pistol is in overall very good + condition showing grey patina to metal surfaces and a pleasing patina to the brass frame. The action is crisp, the engraving and numbered barrels sharp and the grips are very fine with a silver oval plaque on the back-strap hand-engraved with the initials “S.D.”. This is an extremely rare gun in flintlock configuration and a predecessor to the revolver and pepperbox systems. A wonderful and extremely rare gun that would be a nice gap filler for a collector interested in the total development of arms and/or firearms curiosa. Formerly in the Mel Flanagan Collection of European & American Arms.
