COLT THIRD MODEL DRAGOON REVOLVER, IDENTIFIED - HISTORICAL ARMS - Lot #4646

This third model Colt Dragoon is all matching except for the cylinder, which is in a second model serial range. This came to us from the direct descendants of Ryan Carroll, who was the brother-in-law of Daniel Blinn, the two names mentioned on the old ID card that is included with the gun, belt and holster. I had a researcher look the names up, but could not find Carroll in a Civil War Unit. Blinn was in the 126th New York. My researcher though the man could be Rollin Carroll, who served in the 8th Indiana Cavalry. I don't have a clue. I do know that it warrants further research. It's a good, solid Dragoon and the cylinder has most of its scene. Although faint, you can read the "MODEL U. S. M. R." and the "COLT'S PATENT" markings and see most of the characters. All other markings and the action are fine and the edges show some wear commensurate with having been carried and used. When you ad in the ID card, belt and holster, this is a bargain.
