Extremely important sabre with outstanding Patriotic Motifs, " LIBERTY AND INDEPENDENCE " in gold wash, 1" high on one side, FEDERAL EAGLE w/ E PLURIBUS UNUM OVER DATE "1783" ON THE REVERSE. The property of COLONEL CHARLES MYNN THRUSTON, PERSONAL FRIEND AND COLONEL UNDER GENERAL GEORGE WASHINGTON. Traces of original fire blue and gold gilt on the blade. Massive silver mounts on repaired scabbard. In very fine overall condition, with full documentation and notarized affidavits from the family. Thruston was a personal friend and officer who served under Washington, and moved to Kentucky and then on to Louisiana after the war. The Battle of New Orleans was fought on his plantation, and many of his offspring served in the Military including many of the famed Conrad family of Kentucky and Louisiana, one becoming a General, and others Confederate officers.
