MORSE CARBINE, CONFEDERATE - HistoricalArms.com - Lot #4845

This is a good condition Morse Confederate Carbine developed by George W. Morse, nephew of Samuel F.B. Morse, and manufactured at the Greenville, South Carolina state armory, 1,000 were made for South Carolina state militia, 20″ barrel with full stock, 40″ overall length, round barrel, brass loading plate and action, brass butt plate, with cleaning rod and cleaning accessory stored in butt plate. The barrel is a brown to light brown patina and the brass is an untouched mellow mustard patina. The stock is excellent, showing minimal use and of tiger striped or "curly" maple, similar to a Kentucky Rifle. The carbine includes its original cleaning rod and butt-loaded jag. A really nice gun for the price.
