This is a nice condition Savage Revolver that is government inspected. It still shows most of its cartouche and has sub-inspection marks. Functioning well, it is in smooth brown patina with good markings. The Savage Navy is a very desirable Civil War Collector Revolver due to its unusual action. About 20,000 Savage “Navy” models were produced during the Civil War with the US Ordnance Department taking delivery of 11,384 of the guns, and the Navy took delivery of 1,126. The balance were offered for civilian sale and most of those were probably procured for State Units. They are considered primarily a cavalry Revolver by today's collectors.
