FREEMAN CIVIL WAR REVOLVERS, MATCHING PAIR OF CUSTOM TARGET MODELS. - Lot #4179

Freeman Revolvers are considered by collectors as a secondary Martial Revolver as they were produced in 1863-64 with hopes of Government orders for an excellent solid-frame revolver. There is no record that the government ever placed such an order but they are an excellent pistol just the same. This pair (24 numbers apart) were rigged as Target Models and the work and finish is unquestionably factory. The grips are spectacular checkered walnut. The top gun in the photo is in excellent to near mint condition as the photo of the pair shows. The other 3 close-ups are of this gun as well and one can see that this gun retains 98% of its original, brilliant lusterous blue finish. The bottom gun however is re-finished. Still in very sharp, crisp as new condition, the gun obviously saw some use and its owner decided to spruce it up to match its mate. Unfortunately, the person that di the work wasn't very skilled. Regardless, this is a rare set and I will consider selling the guns seperately. NOTE:: TOP (ORIGINAL FINISH) GUN IS SOLD.
